1. BOLAN MINING ENTERPRISES (BME)
• ESTABLISHMENT:
• BME was established in 1974 with 50:50 % JV B/W Govt: of Balochistan and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL).
• JV AGREEMENT:
• JV was initially valid till 2004 and was subsequently renewed till 2034.
• BME JV is managed by Management Committee comprising of 3 members each from GOB and PPL.
• FUNCTION:
• Mining, Grinding & Marketing of barite near Gunga, Ferozabad, Khuzdar and other minerals in Balochistan.
• COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION:
• Production of barite commenced in 1976 and so far, nearly 2.3 Million Mt produced till May, 2021 out of proven 37Mt.
• Barite-Lead-Zinc project has been initiated at Khuzdar, (Which is 3rd large scale mineral project of Pakistan) for the production and processing of Barite, Lead & Zinc concentrates with a project value of about USD 180 Million.
MINES & MINERALOGY
• Vast reservoirs of minerals in District.
• Chromite, antimony, lead and iron are worth mentioning
• Huge marble dumps are present throughout the District.
• Large number of Chromite mines at Tehsil Wadh and Tippi mines at Sub Tehsil Sarona.
• Verona marble (Beysara Tehsil Nall District Khuzdar) exported to China The marble mining stands at the high side.
•Khuzdar & Nal Marble Industry.
• Marble, Limestone, Ordinary Stone, Barite, Lead, Chromite, Basalt and Sand etc are major mines and minerals of Lasbela.
• Approximately 800 Million per annum mines and minerals exploration of Lasbela district contributes in national income in terms of taxes.
§ Government industries of BDA in Lasbela are 02, one Cotton Ginning factory at Uthal and other in Marble City, Hub.
§ Having over 400 industries and participating to the national exchequer to the tune of over 200 Billion Rupees annually.
§ Hub being close to the port has a clear advantage over the 8 different industrial areas of Karachi.
§ GOB needs support from the Federal Govt. so that a conductive environment may be provided to the new coming industries in the province of Balochistan.
MCC/MHD HUAYE DUDDAR MINING COMPANY
• Operated by MCC Huaye Duddar Mining Company (Pvt.) Ltd, hereinafter referred to as MHD.
• Has controlled reserve ore of 939 million tons.
• Containing Zinc grad of 10.03%.
• Containing Lead grade of 3.29%.
• Capacity of 500,000 tons/year.
• MHD is striving for the development gaols of “Build a World-Class Underground Mining Project” and “ create a ‘Belt and Road’ Benchmarking Company”.

• Paid taxes and fulfilled its corporate social responsibility for more than 20 million U.S. dollars since 1st July 2014 till date.
• Paid 16.83 million royalty tax to GOB since 1st Jan 2020 till date.

• Salary to ambulance driver appointed by the Lasbela Social Welfare Organization.

• Repair of School of Karim goth and 5 other schools (i.e Construction of Rooms, Boundary wall) on request of the villagers.

• Gadani ship breaking yard is the World’s third largest breaking yard.
• The yard consists of 132 ship-breaking plots
• In 1980s, Gadani was the largest ship-breaking yard in the world, with 30,000 employees.
• Due to competition and provision of latest comforts at India and Bangladesh has reduced the out put
• Gadani is producing less than one fifth of the scarp, what it produced in the year 1980.
• The strength of employees decreased to 6,000 approximate.

POTENTIAL OF DISTRICT IN TERMS OF OIL & GAS
§ PPL has drilled well Morgand X-1 in Sheikhari which has been declared successful , but surface reservoir study is not complete.
Minerals:
Reportedly, District Awaran is full of
Minerals such as chromite, Gold, Graphite, halides and Magnetize etc. but yet to be exploited.
Trees and Vegetables:
A large No of fruity
and Non fruity tress exists in District Awaran.
Famous fruity trees of
District Awaran are Pomegranate, date palm, grapes etc.
Moreover, wheat, and
onion are cultivated on thousands of hectres. Moreover, water Melon, and many kinds of vegetables are grown
in District Awaran.
Wildlife
58% of Hingol National Park falls in Awaran district. Ibex and
deer are found and protected in the district.
Migratory birds
Houbara bustard and cranes have good sanctuaries during winter when these birds travel
from Russia into Pakistan to avoid cool weather of Siberia.
